What's the name of the boxer whose fighting style included a very low guard -arms were always low?

As a young boy in the early-mid 1980s, I remember watching boxing on TV with my dad. I recall a boxer who never seemed to have a guard up to defend his head. For some reason I thought it might be Sugar Ray Leonard, but I looked at a couple of youtube clips and they don't seem to substantiate my memory. Any ideas? Have I exaggerated this "no-guard" boxer in my mind over time?
