What does this mean? guy trouble?

so long story short a girl i know asked the guy to the dance he said he wasn't sure and then something happened, thats kind of embarassing for her(idk about him), about her not having a date in front of like everyone they asked about him. his friends where hooting and hollering and he goes "f this" and turns away..does he not want to go with her or is still unsure?
